How Original Artworks Become Part of Artful Wedding Concepts
What happens when a wedding is no longer imagined as an event — but as a curated space?
When art is not merely decoration, but the starting point for atmosphere, emotion, and design?
This question became the foundation for the editorial “What We Choose to Become” — an art-inspired bridal concept situated between fashion, contemporary art, and modern bridal aesthetics.
At the center lies the idea of transformation:
The modern bride is not portrayed simply as part of a wedding, but as a self-determined muse within an artistic environment. Elegant, expressive, almost sculptural. Fabrics, light, florals, and beauty details are intentionally treated as elements of an installation.
As the concept evolves, so does the visual language.
The first part feels quiet, almost ceremonial — inspired by art and a timeless, restrained aesthetic. In the second part, the editorial becomes more avant-garde, fashion-driven, and experimental. The bride gradually moves away from traditional imagery and emerges as a creative personality with her own distinct identity.

The idea of integrating original artworks directly into wedding concepts has been on my mind for a long time. While many weddings rely on traditional decorative elements, I intentionally searched for ways to make art a genuine and emotional part of the wedding experience.
During this research, I discovered the art rental concept of the Karlsruhe-based gallery Yvonne Hohner Contemporary. The idea of making original artworks temporarily accessible for special spaces and meaningful experiences immediately fascinated me.
I reached out to Yvonne, and she was instantly open to the idea of connecting art and weddings. Since then, we have been in continuous conversation about how weddings can be approached in a more cultural, artistic, and emotional way.
From this dialogue, the idea eventually emerged to make this vision visible — not theoretically, but through a tangible editorial concept.

For “What We Choose to Become”, Yvonne Hohner provided a work by the artist Christine Schön, who was immediately open to the idea of placing her art within a new emotional context.
The artwork was never treated simply as a backdrop, but rather as the emotional center of the entire concept. The color palette, atmosphere, and overall composition were consciously shaped around the feeling and visual language of the piece.
This collaboration highlights the potential of approaching weddings not only decoratively, but curatorially. Art transforms spaces instantly — creating an emotional depth that reaches far beyond traditional wedding aesthetics.

The concept was developed together with photographer Vanessa Kaub, who immediately connected with the idea of bringing art and weddings together.
What interested us both was the question:
How would a wedding look if it were inspired more by editorials, exhibitions, and artistic installations than by traditional wedding imagery?
Vanessa Kaub translated this vision photographically through a calm, editorial visual language. The images feel less like documented wedding scenes and more like fragments of an exhibition or a fashion magazine.
Together, we wanted to show that weddings can be approached differently — more aesthetic, more emotional, more individual, and more culturally inspired.

The connection between wedding planning, gallery work, contemporary art, and editorial photography is highly unusual in this form.
Through the collaboration with Yvonne Hohner Contemporary, it becomes possible to intentionally integrate original artworks into weddings — not as decoration, but as part of a curated overall concept.
The result is weddings with a distinct identity:
personal, artful, and deeply atmospheric.
Because modern weddings are no longer about fulfilling expectations.
They are about consciously choosing who you want to be — and what you want to embody.
Exactly: What We Choose to Become.
