Live band or DJ?

The choice of music is essential

For an atmospheric party in the evening, the choice of music is essential. Whether you choose a live band or a DJ depends on various factors. With this post, I want to help you make that decision. A pros and cons list can help you make the best decision for your wedding or you can contact a wedding planner for the optimal arrangement of the evening program.

A live band is an absolute highlight in many ways. Live music gets under your skin and creates a special atmosphere at the party. The sound and sound quality are simply much better and, of course, a live band is also visually appealing due to the musicians and their musical instruments. And... a live band is also a highlight for guests who don't want to dance.

However, there are also restrictions to consider when it comes to a live band. As a rule, a live band represents a genre of music. Since the bridal couple chooses the band, the style naturally meets the taste of the newlyweds. However, there may also be some of the guests who do not like this style of music. Depending on the mood and taste of the guests, a DJ can also spontaneously switch to another genre of music, which is only possible to a limited extent with a live band. A live band also cannot play through the entire evening. As a rule, the band takes a short break approximately every 30 minutes and plays for a maximum of 2-3 hours. During breaks between their gigs, many bands let the band play music so that music continues to play in the background, but the difference is noticeable. That is why the dancing guests also often take a short break during the musicians' breaks.

The DJ offers clear advantages here: no breaks, varied music and flexibility in musical style, music requests are possible and a DJ is usually cheaper than a live band. But for an acceptable sound, the DJ needs high-quality equipment!

Now you might be wondering if there is also a middle ground? Yes! There are some DJs who work with musicians, such as a saxophonist. The saxophonist plays freely to the songs that the DJ plays. The musician's pauses are not so noticeable and the music being played is enhanced by the live music.
